We recommend machine washing cold and hanging to dry. Not only is this the best for your undies, it also saves on energy and bills, too. Otherwise, just low-tumble dry on low heat! ;)

What does sustainability mean to you?

Open tab

To us, sustainability is much more than a buzzword—it should be an ongoing practice. We care more about impact than we do about checking boxes, which is why we work to minimize our impact when it comes to water, energy, and waste. We’ve found that the best way we can be the most helpful today is by working with local suppliers in order to reduce our carbon emissions as much as humanly possible. By keeping most of our supply chain in LA, we have a really low carbon footprint.

We’re working towards a local, zero waste, and carbon neutral (negative) future, and promise to keep you posted throughout the journey.

What materials do you use?

Open tab

Right now, we use recycled nylon made from plastic water bottles and GOTS organic cotton for our liners. We want to offer a better solution to seamless underwear which cannot be achieved with natural fibers like cotton or hemp (we tried). We will make briefs with those materials in the future. Since synthetic materials emit microplastics, we suggest using a GuppyFriend, a mesh laundry bag designed to filter out the tiniest microfibers released from textiles during washing. We also use organic cotton because regular cotton is one of the most destructive fibers on the planet. Every fiber an impact on the environment!

What is GOTS certification?

Open tab

GOTS is a textile production certification that limits the use of toxic bleaches, dyes and other chemical inputs during the production process of textiles. While internationally recognized as the toughest organic textile standard, we believe that fitting the criteria of GOTS certification should be the bare minimum. Criteria include:

Products must be made with at least 95% organic fabric

Products can’t be treated with bleach, formaldehyde or any other toxic substances

Products must only use nontoxic dyes

Factories must be in line with strict social and environmental standards, including safe and hygienic working conditions, target goals and procedures that minimize waste, and PVC-free packaging material.

What is your packaging made out of?

Open tab

We use 100% recycled kraft paper poly mailers that are recyclable/compostable and reduce carbon emissions due to their intentionally smaller size. Our garment bags are made out of 100% biodegradable cornstarch tea bags and our ink is plant-based. Designed to keep the magic of opening packages without the guilt.

Is climate change real?

Open tab

Yes! There is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than at any point in the last 800,000 years. In fact, the fashion industry is one of the largest polluters in the world; it accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions and nearly 20% of wastewater.

What does Candeur mean?

Open tab

Candeur means to be open and honest in expression. We aim to breathe transparency and candidness into every part of our supply chain and communication with you!

What are your values and mission?

Open tab

We like to say that we’re on a mission to make the world a more candid place, one thong at a time. But really, we’re out to do a whole lot more than that. Take a peek at the Our Story page for more on how we came to be and where we hope to go.
